Malaise TrapThe Malaise trap is a tent like structure with only one inner wall and no side walls. Insects fly into the screen and migrate to the highest point where a collection head is situated. The head can be a plain bottle, a dry killing area or a wet area. These traps will produce very large numbers of small insects and a conservation policy over their use should be maintained. The trap is supplied in black and white (normal) all white or all black. It is complete with collecting head, spare bottles , filters, pegs, and guys. The seams are all constructed with reinforcing tape and tie points are sewn into the trap. As many of these traps are exported the standard model does not include the poles. These can be constructed from local materials such as bamboo. The design of the collecting head has been kept very simple to enable users to modify or replace parts easily in the field. Alloy poles are available for UK use. Our overseas distributors also stock these nets.
