An aluminium dredge net frame weighing approx. 1 Kg (weight with net bag and towing arms 1.5 Kg) is now available for sampling mud and silt. It is much easier and safer to throw than the heavier dredge, but is not to Environment Agency specifications and is not strong enough for towing over large stone  substrates. (see below)

 

The frame has recently been improved with all joints welded making it possible to fit heavy duty  welded arms similar to the Naturalist Dredge.  These can be supplied for £12.00 extra instead of a harness.(2 required)  This adaptation makes the dredge suitable for light towing and far more of a "general purpose" dredge
