Sweep Nets - These are all displayed clearly on the Education

For collecting from grass, trees, etc. The five-sided frame is designed to give a better sampling sweep at most sites than circular frames.
Lightweight bags are now attached by a continuous velcro strip, heavy weight bags are still attached by press stud.

Ultra light Sweep Net
The net handle is black moulded plastic on a black
plastic coated aluminium frame . There is a hook on elastic in the end of the
handle to hang the net from a belt or ruc sac. The net is attached by
velcro and can be easily removed to wash. It is very light fitting a "spoon
shaped" frame 38 x 28 cms. and 50 cms deep. Originally designed for
KS1 &2 these nets have prooved popular with serious entomologists because of
their very light weight and low price.
The small sweep net is for general field studies and student use. It has a lightweight aluminium frame, approx. 0.25m diameter, with a 0.6m wooden handle. The small net bag is 0.5m deep, and has a curved tip to help prevent insects escaping. It is made from fine-mesh white nylon material.
The medium size sweep net is approximately 0.4m diameter with a 0.38m long wooden handle. The bag is made from fine-mesh white nylon material.
The large sweep net frame, for professional use, is 0.5m diameter with a 0.3m wooden handle. The large net bag is 0.7m deep made from fine-mesh white nylon material.

All the above net bags are available in a heavy duty calico netting material which lasts at least twice as long but being darker does not show the invertebrates so clearly.
